As your Mayor I will:
- Make Government Accountable Again
Currently, the Mayor's salary is more than $135,000 per year. It is higher than the Governor of Oregon or any other statewide elected official.
I will start by cutting the Mayor's salary by 10% to pass those savings on to the taxpayer.
- Keep Seniors in their Homes
As property taxes continue to skyrocket, we can't let seniors get forced out of their homes.
I will fight for policies, like a homestead exemption property tax break, to protect the homeowners who built our community.
- Manage Our Money Responsibly
I will use my years of business experience to bring financial accountability to taxpayers.
The current Mayor spent over $1 million on the legal battle over public records requested by Nike. The County Judge said the City's actions were "a case of negligence, incompetence and bad business."
Under Rob Drake's leadership, projects like The Round and the Westgate Theater have foundered.
I will see that tax dollars are spent wisely, additional internal audits are done regularly, and I will review all controls that are in place to ensure financial sustainability.
- Return City Hall to the Community
The current Mayor has repeatedly made many decisions without working to involve businesses and citizens.
I will make it a top priority to rebuild these relationships, creating a partnership with citizens, businesses and schools. I am the only candidate in this race with the ability to do so. I will not make decisions behind closed doors.
- Build a Vibrant, New Downtown
I have the leadership and the drive to implement a vision to build a vibrant, new downtown Beaverton to bring our whole community together.
While The Round remains half-finished, and the developers for the Westgate have dropped out, I will work to finish these developments and use them to create a city center for Beaverton, which can become the core of our community
